Remedial Massage

A remedial massage treatment involves a combination of techniques including deeper work when appropriate.

The emphasis is on addressing the cause of concern, rather than just the symptoms.

Stretching regularly at home is essential. Advice and specific exercises are offered along side the treatment where appropriate.

Please note, part of your treatment time may be used for assessment of movement and posture.

What to expect from a Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is effective in aiding the recovery of soft tissue injuries, and aches and pains that may be due to trauma, overuse in occupation or sports, or due to postural issues.

Repetitive movement in occupation or sports can lead to a gradual build up of fibrous tissue resulting in pain, stiffness and restricted range of movement. This may eventually lead to injury.

During the healing process of an injury, excess scar tissue can develop into lumps or bands of tissue, known as adhesions, or ‘knots'. These adhesions prevent the muscle fibres from being able to glide along side each other as needed for healthy muscle function, and so result in tightness and pain. Adhesions may also be present at the site of an old injury that has not fully rehabilitated, while some of the muscles that have been in a state of contraction to protect the area may have remained habitually and

unconsciously tight.

Remedial massage addresses all these issues.

Deep techniques are used to break down fibrous, and help release muscle tension.
